Job Description

This position will provide medical care for patients in the NICU incollaboration with or under the supervision of a neonatologist.Help teach our medical students, residents, and nursing staffneonatal resuscitation, performance of skilled procedures, andinitial ventilator and other support management when a criticallyill infant is admitted to the NICU. The individual in this rolewill also help develop the standard of nursing care / possibleresearch activities as well as other duties assigned bysupervisor.

Conduct comprehensive health history and physical assessment ofinfants with acute health problems.

Perform admission history and physical while developing, managing,and modifying treatment plans.

Manage fluid statuses and interpret lab values on all infantsincluding extremely low birth weight infants.

Manage ventilator settings including high frequency ventilators ofmultiple high acuity patients at a time. Interpret blood gases andmake clinical decisions based on those interpretations.

Perform multiple procedures including: intubation, thoracentesis,umbilical line placement, lumbar punctures and patient codes.

Attend high risk deliveries and perform newbornresuscitation.

Serve as a daily resource to Resident Physicians and cover the NICU24/7 including overnight, weekends and holidays and assist withprotocol development and implementation.

3 – 12 hour shifts – schedule will vary

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - Neonatal Nurse Practitioner:

A Master’s degree in Nursing is required.
A current RN license from the State of Missouri is required.
A current ARNP license from the State of Missouri isrequired.
Two years experience in neonatology is required.
National certification as NNP (national exam) is required.
Demonstrated job-related experience with and/or commitment todiversity in the work/academic environment is required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills arerequired.

Minimum Qualifications - Physician Assistant-Specialty Care:

Physicians Assistant (PA) licensure by the Missouri State Board ofRegistration for the Healing Arts.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications- Neonatal Nurse Practitioner:

Level III NICU nursery experience is desirable.

Preferred Qualifications- Physician Assistant-Specialty Care:

Specialty certificate by the National Commission on Certificationof Physician Assistants (NCCPA) in Cardiovascular and ThoracicSurgery, Emergency Medicine, Hospital Medicine, Nephrology,Orthopaedic Surgery, Pediatrics, or Psychiatry.
Additional license/certification requirements as determined by thehiring department.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $90,251 - $115,000 Annually
